Aviary is a school project focused on the exploration of 'third spaces'—social environments distinct from the conventional realms of home and the workplace. In the course of this project, I conducted a thorough examination of both indoor and outdoor spaces, encompassing diverse settings, with the goal of identifying the most prominent areas of interest. The findings resulting from my research and surveys indicated that a significant proportion of individuals opt to work within third spaces, primarily driven by the unique amenities these spaces offer, or in certain instances, simply because they had no choice.

How might we create a secluded space within a chaotic setting that promotes productivity in a personal or collaborative setting?

A design that caters to users and their specific needs.

Featuring expansive, gracefully contoured panels, the generous workspaces are tailor-made for group gatherings, offering a comfortable environment for meetings. In contrast, the compact workspaces are intended for individuals on the move, those with extended layovers and ambitious projects at hand. These spaces are characterized by shorter panels, allowing users to swiftly transition between work tasks and checking the status of their flights with ease.

Aviary is designed to enhance productivity and seclusion from external distractions.

Within Aviary's architectural framework, you'll find secluded spaces catering to solo travelers and groups alike. Airports often feature these integrated workspaces, offering a sense of order and consistency in the midst of their fast-paced surroundings. The built-in design is central to its functionality, facilitating convenient access to power sources and reinforcing the structural integrity of the panels, negating the necessity for extra hardware and supports.
